STEM Kit Campaign

Help expand this popular program by contributing to the STEM Kit Fund this fall! The initial kits were sponsored by a grant from the the National Science Foundation. The Kits have been so popular and so successful that the Library would like to duplicate popular kits, restock missing parts and add subject areas.

We’ve set a goal to raise $2,500 by 12/31 for STEM Kits. Can you help us reach our goal?

Note: if we exceed our goal, extra funds will go toward new furniture in the Loussac Children’s Area.

What are STEM Kits?

Library STEM kits are designed to provide hands-on interaction and creative learning with STEM concepts while complementing Anchorage School District’s science curriculum standards. Each kit focuses on a theme and contains: an explorative, hands-on item, a discovery sheet for recording what you learned, observed, and designed, and non-fiction books. Kits circulate for three weeks and are eligible for renewals as item demand allows. Items can be picked up from the Youth Services desk at the Z. J. Loussac Library or placed on hold for pick-up at any APL location.
